    Established as Korea Test Institute of Machinery and Metals under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (formerly Ministry of Commerce and Industry)

 

Economic Growth of Korea & Development of KIMM

  • 1989 Oct.10

    Established Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO) and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) as affiliated institutes

  • 1981 Jan.05

    Launched as Korea Center for Machinery and Materials through merger with Korea Research Institute of Ships (KRIS)

 

Building Infrastructure for Leading Research Institute

  • 1999 Mar.31

    Transferred KRISO under the auspice of the Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute (KORDI)

  • 1996 Nov.15

    Spun off KARI as an independent institute

  • 1992 Mar.16

    Renamed as Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM)
